FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:
For the critical teacher shortage areas identified by the Commissioner of Education, three financial aid options exist:
- We anticipate having scholarship funds available to offset a portion of the program costs during the internship year. These scholarships will be limited to the critical teacher shortage areas identified by the Texas Education Agency. The exact amount of the scholarships will be determined at a later date but we estimate them to be in the range of $1500.00 - $2000.00.
- College Access Loan Program. The College Access Loan Program provides alternative educational loans to Texas students enrolled in an alternative certification program who are unable to meet the cost of attendance. The CAL may be used to cover part or all of the student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC);students do not have to demonstrate financial need. This loan program is part of the Hinson-Hazlewood College Student Loan Program administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) More information.
- WorkSource, through the Texas Workforce Commission, has scholarships available for displaced workers as well as need-based scholarships based on a sliding scale. To check your eligibility for these scholarships, you may contact Worksource by clicking here.
- A+ Federal Credit Union offers a low-interest loan that can be used to help defray the cost of the certification process. Students do not have to demonstrate financial need. Download the brochure or visit A+ online.
