Application Fee (due at time of application)

Required to initiate the application process. Payment must be made during the online application process and is required to transmit the application.

Pre-Service Fee (due by Orientation start date)

$750.00

Those accepted into the District Referral Program must pay their pre-service fee by the first day of Summer Boot Camp Training. This fee is assessed to all interns and covers the cost of online courses, professional development, materials and textbooks during the pre-service portion of the program

Inservice Fee (prorated in 10 monthly payments starting with onset of internship year)

$4,500.00

Inservice fees include all face-to-face classes, on-line classes, multiple support services, materials, and technical support. This fee may be payroll deducted on a prorated monthly basis during the program year.

Critical Needs Area Scholarship available for critical needs certification areas (credited to Inservice Fee)

Critical Needs Certification Areas: Special Education EC-12, Foreign Languages 8-12, Bilingual Elementary EC-8, Math/Science 4-8, Science 4-12, Mathematics 4-12, Chemistry 8-12, Math/Physics 8-12, Math/Physical Science/Engineering 8-12, Life Science 8-12, Physical Science 8-12.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:

  1. College Access Loan Program: The College Access Loan Program provides alternative educational loans to Texas students enrolled in an alternative certification program who are unable to meet the cost of attendance. The CAL may be used to cover part or all of the student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC); students do not have to demonstrate financial need. This loan program is part of the Hinson-Hazlewood College Student Loan Program administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) More information.
  2. WorkSource: The Texas Workforce Commission has scholarships available for displaced workers as well as need-based scholarships based on a sliding scale. To check your eligibility for these scholarships, you may contact Worksource by clicking here.
  3. A+ Federal Credit Union: This cedit union offers a low-interest loan that can be used to help defray the cost of the certification process. Students do not have to demonstrate financial need. Download the brochure or visit A+ online.
  4. Troops to Teachers: This federally funded programis designed to assist military personnel and veterans transition to a new career as public school teachers in "high-needs" schools and districts. Counseling, referral, and placement assistance is provided through a network of state offices. In some cases, Troops to Teachers provides financial assistance to eligible veterans.
