Application Period (November 2009 - September, 2010)

Prospective intern must complete application during this period. Please see CTE Application for more details.


Orientation (August 3 - August 7, 2010)

Pre-Service and Orientation
Applicants accepted into the CTE program will receive information outlining specific details of program as relates to specific certification area.

Orientation Training (August 3 - August 7, 2010)

Pre-service training sessions to help you prepare for the start of the school year will begin on August 3, 2010, and conclude on August 7, 2010. The training will be a full day from 9 am to 4:30 pm daily.

 


Inservice (August, 2010- June, 2011)

Blended Training Continues (August, 2010- June, 2011)
All participants continue to meet face-to-face Tuesday (6-9pm) and Saturdays (9am-4pm). Online coursework continues along with the face-to-face meetings.

Internship and Employment Year Begins (August, 2010- June, 2011)
Participant must be employed as a teacher of record by a TEA accredited School District and will begin receiving on-campus support from campus mentor and ECP field specialist.

Student Teaching Option (January, 2011- May, 2011)

Austin-area cohort ONLY – Participants not hired prior to October 1, 2010, may apply for the student teaching option in order to continue their certification process.  Student teachers will be required to continue the course curriculum and will complete the 14-week student teaching experience in the spring of 2011. 


Certification (June, 2011)

Recommendation for Standard Teacher Certification
Upon successful completion of internship year and all program requirements, the participant is recommended for a standard teaching certificate through the State Board for Educator Certification. The teaching certificate is valid in any school district in the state of Texas.
