Mentoring and ECP Intern: Roles and Responsibilities

Thank you for your interest in and willingness to serve as a mentor for an intern in Region XIII’s Educator Certification Program (ECP). In this role you are responsible for:

  • Providing support and assistancewhich pertain to campus and district expectations
  • Supporting the intern with instructional planning, classroom management, and other professional responsibilities
  • Attending mentor –intern training sessions

With the help of your principal, you must determine if you and your mentee will participate in your school district’s mentoring program or the ECP Mentor-Intern Structured Conversations. Please read the requirements below and indicate in which program you will participate.  A stipend of $175.00 will be paid each semester to the mentor for completing all requirements, whether you participate in the ECP mentor sessions or your district program.

Requirements

If you and your mentee participate in your district’s program you must:

  • Submit the following to ECP:
    • ECP Mentor Agreement
    • Stipend Forms (Fall & Spring Semester)
    • W-9 Tax Form
    • Submit a copy of the training sessions
  • Attend district mentor – intern sessions
  • Upload district mentor – intern forms to the ECP Intern Login link ( on left)
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Region XIII ECP staff

 

 

 

 

OR

If your district does not have a mentor program, you and your mentee will:

  • Attend  professional development sessions provided by Region XIII –ECP
  • Conduct a minimum of 4 classroom observations
  • Conduct a minimum of 4 discussion meetings
  • After each observation or discussion, complete the appropriate form on the ECP Intern Login link ( on left)
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Region XIII ECP staff
  • Submit Mentor Agreement, Stipend forms, and W-9
  • Complete an end of year survey
 

Please submit the Mentor Agreement, indicating whether you will participate in your school district’s mentor program or the ECP Mentor –Intern Structured Conversation.
