Timeline

December 2008/February 2009
Online Orientation and Content Prep/Blended Trainings Begin:
All participants attend online orientation session at the Education Service Center Region XIII. Month of January used to prepare for content certification exam. All participants begin meeting face-to-face Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6-9pm) and Saturdays (9am-4pm). Online coursework continues along with the face-to-face meetings. During May 4 - May 15, 2009, all participants required to complete observations in classroom setting (7am-4pm).

June or July 2009
Skillpoint Training held:
Three-day training during June or July. TBA Participants must be availble during the day. This Project will allow Interns to select one unit of study they developed based on the project-based training  to review, revise, and submit to both Skillpoint and the Texas STEM Best Practices networks which will serve as conduits for sharing best practices, rigorous math and science curriculum, and lesson plans infused with relevant, real-world activities. 

August 2009
Internship year begins:
Participant will be an employee of the school district, teacher of record and earning a beginning teacher’s salary (contact school district for this amount). Continue to meet with cohort (less frequently) and begin receiving on-campus support from mentor and field supporter.

May 2010
Recommendation:
Upon successful completion of internship year and program requirements, the participant is recommended for standard teaching certificate through the State Board for Educator Certification.
