TTT Grant Benefits to Participant

Note: teaching for three years on a high needs campus is a condition of the Transition to Teaching grant. Participants who do not fulfill this requirement must repay grant benefits.

Program Fees

Application Fee (due at time of application)

Required to initiate the application process. Payment must be made during the online application process and is required to transmit the application.

Registration Fee (due upon acceptance into the program)

$300.00

Those accepted into the program must return their registration form and pay the registration fee to reserve their place in the program and cover the cost of professional development and materials prior to pre-service.

Content Prep Fee (paid for by the TTT Grant)

($200.00)

This fee is assessed to those interns who have not yet passed the content certification exam at time of acceptance and are required to participate in content preparation studies via online or face to face.

Pre-Service Fee (paid for by the TTT Grant) ($800.00)
  This fee is assessed to all interns and covers the cost of online courses, professional development, materials and textbooks during the pre-service portion of the program

Inservice Fee (prorated in 10 monthly payments starting with onset of internship year)

$3,700.00

For applicants who successfully obtain employment during the school year, and includes professional development, multiple support services, online course modules, materials, and technical support. This fee may be payroll deducted on a prorated monthly basis during the program year.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:

  1. College Access Loan Program: The College Access Loan Program provides alternative educational loans to Texas students enrolled in an alternative certification program who are unable to meet the cost of attendance. The CAL may be used to cover part or all of the student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC); students do not have to demonstrate financial need. This loan program is part of the Hinson-Hazlewood College Student Loan Program administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) More information.
  2. WorkSource: The Texas Workforce Commission has scholarships available for displaced workers as well as need-based scholarships based on a sliding scale. To check your eligibility for these scholarships, you may contact Worksource by clicking here.
  3. A+ Federal Credit Union: This credit union offers a low-interest loan that can be used to help defray the cost of the certification process. Students do not have to demonstrate financial need. Download the brochure or visit A+ online.
  4. Troops to Teachers: This federally funded program is designed to assist military personnel and veterans transition to a new career as public school teachers in "high-needs" schools and districts. Counseling, referral, and placement assistance is provided through a network of state offices. In some cases, Troops to Teachers provides financial assistance to eligible veterans.
