TTT Program Schedule (2010-2011)

Program Schedule Overview:
The following is a general overview of the program schedule.


Orientation:

Orientation to the Program (Fall 2009)

Accepted applicants will receive a specific date for the orientation session in their acceptance letters.

E-Campus Orientation to Online Learning (Jan 2010- March, 2010)

All participants will attend an evening training session the week of Jan 4- 8, 2010 (specific dates will be provided at the program orientation session). Online courses begin for accepted applicants that have not yet passed the content certifcation exam. These online courses are content-based and are designed to assist participants in preparing for respective content certification exams.


Pre-Service:

Blended Training Begin (March - July 2010)

All participants begin meeting face-to-face Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6-9pm) and Saturdays (9am-4pm). Online coursework continues along with the face-to-face meetings.

Field Experience (2 weeks in May 2010)

During 2 weeks in May all participants are required to participate in a field experience in a classroom setting at a local school campus during the day (7am-5pm). During this two week field experience, participants will work with a campus teacher in order to practice concepts and skills introduced in the training sessions. Satisfactory completion of this field experience is required to continue in the program.


Inservice:

Blended Training Continues ( Aug 2010- May 2011)
All participants continue to meet face-to-face on select Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6-9pm) and Saturdays (9am-4pm). Online coursework continues along with the face-to-face meetings.

Skillpoint Training held:
This Project will allow Interns to select one unit of study they developed based on the project-based training  to review, revise, and submit to both Skillpoint and the Texas STEM Best Practices networks which will serve as conduits for sharing best practices, rigorous math and science curriculum, and lesson plans infused with relevant, real-world activities. 

Internship Year Begins: (Aug 2010- May 2011)
Participant must have secured teaching assignment by October 1st in order to continue in the program. Participant must be employed as a teacher of record by a TEA accredited School District. Begin receiving on-campus support from campus mentor and ECP field supporter.

Student Teaching Option (Jan 2011- May 2011)

Participants not hired prior to October 1, 2010, may apply for the student teaching option in order to continue their certification process.  Student teachers will be required to continue the course curriculum and will complete the 14-week student teaching experience in the Spring of 2011. 


Certification (June 2011)

Recommendation for Standard Teacher Certification:
Upon successful completion of internship year and all program requirements, the participant is recommended for a standard teaching certificate through the State Board for Educator Certification. The teaching certificate is valid in any school district in the state of Texas.
